PUBLIC CONSULTATIONS
SAGUENAY–ST. LAWRENCE MARINE PARK MANAGEMENT PLAN 
 
TADOUSSAC, QUEBEC, January 3, 2008 – The public is invited to participate in the process of public consultations for the review of the Saguenay–St. Lawrence Marine Park management plan. The goals of the consultations are to inform the public of the challenges faced by the marine park, to exchange ideas and opinions, and to collect comments.
 
All interested people and groups can obtain the consultation document by writing to consultation marinepark@pc.gc.ca, or by calling 418-235-4703 extension 259 or 418-272-1509 extension 221. The document is also available at www.parcmarin.qc.ca. The document presents the main topics pertaining to the review of the management plan. It describes the work carried out over the past few years, and sheds light on how the marine park plans to overcome challenges during the coming years.
 
Information and discussion meetings will be held in the afternoon from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and in the evening from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. They will take place in the following municipalities:
  • Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at the Complexe sportif de Rivière-Malbaie, 65 Girard Street, La Malbaie;
  • Thursday, January 31, 2008, at Hôtel Lévesque, 171 Fraser Street, Rivière-du-Loup;
  • Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at the Vieux-Théâtre, 300 De la Grande-Baie Nord Blvd., Saguenay (La Baie borough);
  • Thursday, February 7, 2008, at the Salle multifonctionnelle, 23 Forestière Road, Les Escoumins.

In the case of a storm, cancelled meetings would be postponed during the week of February 18, 2008. 

Following a presentation of the main issues, proposed actions and zoning plan, residents and organization representatives will have the opportunity to ask questions and share their opinions on the marine park’s future. Until March 21, 2008, they may also send a paper or comments to consultation-marinepark@pc.gc.ca or to one of the following addresses:
