Gala des Grands Prix du tourisme, SaguenayLac-Saint-Jean RTA: The President of the Marine Park Coordination Committee Receives Recognition

On February 20 2009, the SaguenayLac-Saint-Jean regional tourism association’s annual banquet took place at Auberge du Jardin, in Saint-Félicien, where the regional winners of the Grands Prix du tourisme were announced.

The jury awarded the prize for Tourism Personality of the Year to Dr. Jules Dufour, emeritus professor at Université du Québec à Chicoutimi and president of the SaguenaySaint-Laurent Marine Park coordination committee. He was chosen for his "outstanding contribution to the recognition, development and positioning of the natural resources of national parks in the region and in the interest of peace education. His actions greatly contributed to the development of the tourism industry. "

Dr. Dufour was accompanied by the marine park’s co-directors, Luc Bouchard of Parcs Québec and Daniel Langlois of Parks Canada. The regional winners are invited as finalists to the Gala national des Grands Prix du tourisme québécois, taking place in Québec on May 15 2009. Congratulations to Dr. Dufour for this well-deserved honour, and good luck in the finals.
