Committee Mandate

The mandate of the Coordinating Committee is to ensure that the management plan for the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park is followed properly, and to recommend the strategies and means needed in order to reach the general and specific objectives defined in the plan.

More specifically, this committee:

  • ensures that objectives regarding protection of the marine park’s natural and cultural resources are reached;
  • encourages preservation of the diversity of cultural resources within the coordination area of the marine park;
  • harmonises and monitors actions undertaken by each of the parties to establish infrastructures, services and activities so as to foster complementarity;
  • proposes means for sharing the use of infrastructures, facilities and equipment already in place, and of those that are to be built or put into service;
  • ensures networking amongst the parties when establishing annual and multiple-year plans of operation for marine park activities and services;
  • recommends modifications to park boundaries, the management plan, and to legislative or regulatory measures affecting the marine park;
  • participates, in the coordination area, in preparing files pertaining to concerted action plans and coordinates such plans where appropriate; and
  • produces and makes public an annual report presenting the results of its own endeavours.
