CONSERVATION: THE CRUCIAL ISSUE
Foster the integrated management of the marine park’s ecosystems and natural resources by focussing on their preservation and that of the park’s underwater seascapes and the cultural indicators present there.

EDUCATION AND INTERPRETATION: COMPLEMENTARY TO CONSERVATION
Working with community partners, inform about and foster appreciation of the many facets of the marine park to raise their awareness regarding the park’s reasons for existence, the value of its components, and their conservation requirements.

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH: ENHANCING THE FUTURE OF THE MARINE PARK
Promote scientific research in all areas likely to help improve knowledge of the marine park’s ecosystems and thus, manage it more effectively.

LAND USE: CONJUGATING CONSERVATION AND ENHANCEMENT

Permit use of the territory in keeping with ecological, environmental, social, cultural and ethical considerations;

Manage resource harvest activities from a perspective of on-going renewal and in a manner that respects the natural evolution of the ecosystems of those resources;

Respect the agreements signed with First Nations communities, and to the extent that they exist, the specific rights of the Essipit Montagnais;

Reserve, if applicable, certain areas of the park for reference, research or education purposes; and

Foster the maintenance and development of discovery and appreciation activities compatible with the marine park’s objectives.

HARMONIOUS INTEGRATION INTO THE REGIONAL COMMUNITY
Ensure the integration of those projects and activities organised by government organisations and local communities that are compatible with the marine park’s objectives. |
