Protecting and enhancing the milieu for
present and future generations

The Saguenay–St. Lawrence Marine Park is a protected environment and part of a worldwide network of marine conservation areas. Established as a result of a concerted effort by the governments of Canada and Québec, it is the first park in Québec to preserve and feature a marine environment. Local and regional stakeholders work closely together to manage the park.The objectives of the Saguenay–St. Lawrence Marine Park are as follows:

  • conserve the marine ecosystems and cultural heritage of the site,
  • raise public awareness through educational activities and interpretation,
  • encourage scientific research,
  • enhance the cultural and natural resources of the site,
  • integrate site activities harmoniously into the regional community, and
  • conciliate conservation and enhancement.
